It is traditional for Jewish babies to be given a Hebrew name, which is often in honor of a family member who has passed on and who was meaningful in the parent's lives.
We have chosen a Hebrew name for our little Wren, meant to honor two very important people who played an important role in both of our lives and certainly contributed to our little collective work. Little Wayka Wren Golden’s Hebrew name will be Asa Gidona.
Asa, which means healer, honors Kristen’s Aunt Genny, who was a healer and a source of limitless giving and compassion – the word that most came to mind in thinking of Genny for Kristen was bodhisattva, which is a Buddhist term for anyone who is dedicated as a warrior for peace. From this we derived the name Asa, or Healer.
Gidona, which means mighty warrior, honors Matt’s Uncle Harold, who was an unbelievably generous provider, and through his financial support, helped us to create a home and a child. The name Harold means general of an army, and from that we derived the name Gidona, or Mighty Warrior.
Asa

Just beautiful! I don't think I've ever met such poetic parents right after a birth! You guys are amazing. Are you have a baby naming too? On Monday 9/14 some food will be delivered to you from me and my kids. I'm leaving town tomorrow for a week to celebrate my mom's 85th birthday. I'll be back and over to see the little one as soon as I get home!
ReplyDeleteMazel tov! Makes me happy to think of you all settling in at home. She's a very lucky child, and I can't wait to meet her. Love, Catherine
